Experience Scuba Diving at Lizard Island

Full Day Private Reef Tour

Journey on your private riviera charter to the many dive sites along the fringes of the ribbon reefs such as the famous Cod Hole* and Dynamite Passage*. This tour is recommended to guests who are wanting the total Great Barrier Reef Experience. See a wide variety of aquatic life including reef drop-off, tropical fish, reef sharks, rays and Potato Cod.  

Your Full Day Reef Tour will depart from the Beach Club at approximately 8:30am and return at approximately 3:30pm. Lunch and refreshments are provided. Tours run to the inner and outer reefs on alternating days.

Relaxed and casually elegant. The Diving and snorkelling was magical. Special call out to Dive instructors Sandra and Liam and Captains Brutus and Harry and Chris. Memorable dining, gorgeous accommodation. The degustation experience on our final night was exceptional. We loved this place and the staff and will be back. Our visit was part of a special Penfolds 75 anniversary! We weren't sure what to expect but certainly were not disappointed. All meals were designed to match white and red wines and included a masterclass conducted by Penfolds winemaker Andrew Hales. In between all the wining and dining we had time to take a tinnie out for a picnic and snorkelling. - Truus

The beaches were breathtaking. Not only the most beautiful we've seen anywhere in the world, but we also had them literally to ourselves. It's so remote, and the resort is so small, that you can reliably get your own beach daily. Make sure to check out the turtles! Also, they packed us delicious lunches every day with all the wine we wanted! I can't express how magical Lizard Island is. It's just a completely *other*, next-level place. It is worth any amount of money to go. - Nathan

All staff always had a smile on their faces. Colin was a great person to refresh my Scuba diving skills and was amazing when we went on the Outer Reef Dive always making sure I was okay and showed me some cool stuff. So many of activities to choose from and dining was a good choice - Ethan

Lizard Island is the northern most island resort on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef - 240 kilometres north of Cairns.

Suggested Itinerary for a 5-night stay at Lizard Island Resort

Allow us to tailor you a customised itinerary to ensure you sample the best of Lizard Island and the Great Barrier Reef while still leaving time to take in the serenity of your room.

Day 1

11:00 - Depart Cairns via the Hinterland Aviation Terminal, bound for Lizard Island Resort. Enjoy an unforgettable scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef
12:00 - Arrival at Lizard Island, enjoy lunch in Salt Water Restaurant before checking in to your resort room
14:30 - Visit the resort Beach Club for an afternoon of water activities – pick up your snorkelling gear for your stay and enjoy stand up paddle boarding and clearview sea kayaking over the reef
19:00 - Dinner in Salt Water Restaurant

Day 2

06:00 - Climb to the highest vantage point on the island and experience unbelievable panoramic views of the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding islands on the hike to Cook’s Look. If undertaking this hike without a guide, please register at reception upon departure
09:00 - Breakfast in Salt Water Restaurant
10:00 - Walk or take a motorised dinghy to Watson’s Bay and enjoy snorkelling over the Clam Gardens
12:30 - Lunch in Salt Water Restaurant
14:00 - Relax and enjoy the tranquility of Essentia Day Spa
16:00 - Gin Tasting experience
18:15 - Beachside Degustation Dining in a private pavilion on Anchor Bay

Day 3

07:00 - Breakfast at Salt Water Restaurant
08:15 - Meet at the Beach Club for a Half Day Reef Tour
12:30 - Lunch in Salt Water Restaurant
17:00 - Sunset Cruise with wine and cheese
18:00 - Casual dinner and drinks at Marlin Bar

Day 4

8:30 - Full day excursion to the outer reef for snorkelling and diving. Visit world-renowned dive sites such as the Cod Hole where you’ll experience incredible marine life up close
18:00 - Dinner at Salt Water Restaurant

Day 5

07:00 - Breakfast in Salt Water Restaurant
09:30 - Research Station Tour – learn about the research, conservation efforts and protection of the Great Barrier Reef
13:00 - Turtle Tour – swim with turtles and experience these majestic creatures up close
19:00 - Dinner in Salt Water Restaurant

Day 6

08:00 - Bird watching walk with one of our expert naturalists
