Diving Options

Lizard Island is located on the Great Barrier Reef with world famous dive site, such as the Cod Hole, only 45 minutes from shore.

Lizard Island is a continental island situated 28km from the North Queensland coast and is surrounded by fringing reefs and breathtaking, world renowned dive sites including Cod Hole- home of the huge, but friendly and curious, Potato Cod.

Our purpose-built dive boat, the MV Serranidae (the latin name for "Grouper" - the Potato Cod is part of the Grouper family) operates half and full day excursions to both the inner and outer reef diving sites. These excursions operate on alternate days and are subject to weather and tidal conditions – your safety means everything to us.

The diversity of the dive locations within the waters surrounding the island ensure that those with all levels of diving experience can explore and experience the crystal clear waters and witness the variety and diversity of coral species and marine life, all of which form part of the heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.

All of our dive sites are under protection of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

Our experienced marine team is passionate and educated about the Great Barrier Reef and the diversity and uniqueness of its plant and marine life. The team will provide a thorough briefing and commentary en route to your chosen site and will be on hand to assist with any questions or guidance you may require to ensure your experience is everything you dreamed of.

Half day and full day dive and snorkel excursions operate on alternate days. Your excursion will be aboard M.V. Serranidae our luxury yacht, which adds a little extra comfort as you head to and from the reef.

No Diving 24 hours Before Flying

Please be advised that safety regulations require that divers are not permitted to fly for a minimum of 24 hours after their last dive.  As most guests will fly to and from the island, this is critical for your planning.

Minimum age and medical conditions apply for dive courses.
