Everything you need

Everything you need, nothing you don't. The most natural thing in the world.

The most beautiful time

Dear Robyn and Team

Ross and I just wanted to say, we had the most beautiful time on Lizard Island.

It was a very special occasion for us as it was our 40th!!! Wedding anniversary.  It was celebrated at Lizard what a good choice, and has been the best holiday we have ever had it was just perfect.

Thank you everyone you were all so gorgeous.  We will be back but this time we won't wait quite so long.

HIghly Recommended

Lizard Island was truly paradise.  I am not sure how it was under its previous management but I cannot imagine a more idyllic place.  The service was the most incredible I can imagine and they handled my wife's food allergies very very well, to the point that every night they printed a separate menu for her.  I cannot recommend this resort more highly.

Unbelievable..

As beautiful as the pictures are on this website, they just can't do justice to just how amazing the island is. The blue water and white sand are incredibly beautiful. You feel like you have this place to yourself. I can't wait to get back.

I want to go back...now

Gorgeous location. Coral is just a few feet from the shoreline at the resort. The island is a national park and has wonderful varying habitats. The hike up to Cook's Look is great fun and the view is spectacular. The folks at the resort are gracious and very helpful. The restaurant serves wonderful food and beverages. The servers seemed hurried at times. Most are friendly and all do a very good job. You can ask for just about anything and likely get it (may have to give them fair warning) ie. giant prawns for dinner when it is not on the menu. Our room was wonderful, quiet, with a great view. Maid service was outstanding. The people who run the snorkeling and boating venue were very helpful and fun to work with. This place was perfect to relax, eat great food, snorkel and hike/explore. The pace is slow/wonderfully so. There is internet provided on one or two 'public' computers for guests. One of the neatest things is taking a dinghy with a 6hp motor to a beach of your choice with wine and food (you chose what and how much). The surroundings are beautiful. Would go back in a heart beat.

Incredible island vacation - best way to experience the Great Barrier Reef

My husband and I have been fortunate enough to stay at Lizard Island twice now, the first time in 2007 and again in 2009.

We're fortunate to travel the world and stay in incredible places but of all the places we could go we chose to return here for our wedding/honeymoon - in combination with Wrotham Park Lodge - reviewed separately. (I highly recommend starting with 2-3 nights at Wrotham and following it with 4+ nights at Lizard, and doing the private aircraft transfer. Flying from the bush to the reef from private resort to private resort without any of the hassles of connecting, security, etc. is just incredible).

We love the feel of being on a private island, with enough space to stretch out but with everything really close. The main restaurant is beautiful, and the food is excellent. You can step out from your room (recommend the Anchor Bay rooms over the Sunset Point ones) and out to the beach, where the snorkeling on the house reef is excellent e.g. giant clams, even the occasional harmless reef sharks (so don't be surprised!).

The diving is outstanding (especially the Cod Hole) and the staff take care of everything for you. Food/beverage on the dive trips is also of a very high standard, e.g. fresh fruit tray to snack on after diving.

Our favorite thing to do is to have the resort pack a lunch and some wine (and water) into a cooler and to take a dinghy (they pack it with towels, umbrella) to one of the private beaches. I was concerned to read in a recent review that they only had 3 dinghies so I would call and check before booking to find out if they plan to correct that. When we were there they had at least a dozen so we never had a problem getting one.

Overall, one of our very favorite resorts in the world.
