MV Serranidae Great Barrier Reef Trips
Lead by experienced dive guides offering interpretation and safety, M.V. Serranidae snorkel & dive trips are the ideal way to experience the amazing fish and coral of the Great Barrier Reef.
Half day and full day trips are available on alternate days aboard M.V. Serranidae, traveling to sites equally accessible to snorkellers as well as divers. The half day trip departs at approx. 9.00am and returns at approx.12.00pm, taking you to either the continental islands with their own unique fringing reefs or to patch reefs which are constructed entirely of coral.
The full day trip, departing at approx. 9.00am and returning at approx. 4.00pm, visits two sites on the ribbon reefs,
including the renowned Cod Hole.
'Fascination III' Private Dive and Snorkelling Charters
Private charters are available from Lizard Island to offer the greatest flexibility for dive enthusiasts. The 'Fascination III' is a modern 51 foot (13m) vessel that provides the perfect platform for diving or snorkelling expeditions. Some of the other charters available include fishing and visiting a nearby coral island. Pre-bookings are essential.
Night Diving
Lizard Island operates local night dives from the MV Monitor. An afternoon dive familiarises divers with the site and following a surface break a night dive then gives divers the opportunity to see nocturnal marine animals, providing a different to experience to diving in the day.
Discover Scuba Diving
This course is designed for beginners with no prior experience who want a taste of diving without committing to the full course. The course includes equipment hire, classroom sessions and one supervised shore dive with a qualified instructor. Minimum age of 14 years and medical conditions apply.
Referral Dive Courses
PADI referral course for students who have completed all theory and confined water components. Bookings must be made prior to arrival. Participants need to be staying at the Resort for a minimum of 4 nights. Please ensure you bring with you, two passport sized photos, a referral statement and an Australian Medical Certificate (AS4005.1) signed by a specialist dive practitioner. MV Serranidae boat charges are additional.
Refresher Dive
If you have not recently dived (twelve months or more), complimentary refresher courses are available on the beach ,before your first dive on the island.

- PADI Referral courses must be pre-booked prior to arrival at the resort. All other diving is booked at the resort Beach Club on arrival. When making your accommodation reservation, please advise if you intend to dive whilst on the island.
- All dive courses are instructed in English only
- All Dive trips are subject to weather and tidal conditions
- Diving is not guaranteed on the day of arrival and is not permitted within the 24 hours before flying off the island.
- If you are intending to dive or snorkel on Lizard Island, it is recommended that you review important Safety and Medical information prior to arriving on the island.
- For referral courses, two passport sized photos (for non-certified divers), or a 'C' card and logbook (for certified divers) must also be presented to The Beach Club on arrival.
- Please note: tanks and weights are included in all dive charges. An environmental management charge is included in the price of each dive.
