Booking Procedure
Booking requests for Hinterland Flights to Lizard Island may be placed online using our contact form.
Alternatively, bookings may be made on 1300 233 432 (within Australia) or +613 9426 7550 (internationally).
An email or fax confirmation will be sent prior to your flight. Bring this document and photo ID (such as a drivers' license or passport) as this will be required at check-in.
Note: Group bookings of 10 or more passengers must charter a flight. Groups of 9 or less passengers may travel on the regular Hinterland flights.
Flight Times
Flights between Cairns and Lizard Island take approximately 60 minutes.
Transfers to Hinterland Terminal
If arriving from a domestic flight to Cairns a minimum of one hour connection time is required between the two flights. When arriving from an international flight a minimum of two hours connection time is required - this includes domestic travel on an international flight number. Please note these connection times are required in either direction.
Guests staying overnight in Cairns, are required to make their own way to the Hinterland Aviation Terminal. Final check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure time.
Note: Lizard Island can organise air transfers to the island for you, however to ensure the process runs smoothly a minimum of 14 days notice of your connecting flights would be ideal.

Check-in
Check-in for all Hinterland Aviation flights is at the Hinterland Aviation terminal at least 30 minutes prior to the flight departure. Passengers are required to go through normal security screening before boarding the aircraft.
Terminal Facilities
The new terminal located on Tom Macdonald Drive offers free secure parking and excess baggage storage. Relax in one of three separate lounges (including a VIP lounge) or, should you wish to freshen up between flights, shower facilities are available.
Luggage Restrictions
Each passenger is entitled to check in up to 32kg of baggage for carriage in the aircraft hold at no charge.
At the Carrier's discretion, excess baggage (ie above the allowance) may be accepted. For every kg of baggage over the allowance accepted, charges may apply.
No single item may exceed 32kg in weight.
Luggage storage facilities are available at the Hinterland Terminal.
Dangerous goods must not be carried in (or as) passenger or checked baggage or carry-on baggage. This includes flammable liquids such as camping fuel.
Booking Terms and Cancellation Policy - Regular and Private Charter Flights to Lizard Island
Hinterland flight times and schedules are subject to change, based on operational requirements. All bookings must be guaranteed at time of booking by credit card.
No cancellation fee applies: More than 7 days prior to flight.
Cancellation fee applies: Within 7 - 0 days prior to flight. Cancellation of any flights incurs a loss of full cost of flight, per person.
