Lizard Island Resort is a secluded Great Barrier Reef island resort located 240km north of Cairns and 27km off the coast of North Queensland.

Guests must transfer at Cairns to a scenic flight bound for Lizard Island. These air transfers between Cairns and Lizard Island are booked through Lizard Island Reservations Team.

Getting from Cairns to Lizard Island

From Cairns, enjoy a scenic 60 minute flight, over spectacular views of the Great Barrier Reef and the coast, en route to Lizard Island.

Your scenic flight transfers are $590 per person

This flight is operated by Hinterland Aviation located at Cairns Airport close to the Domestic and International Terminals.

Complimentary shared transfers are included between Cairns Airport and the Hinterland Aviation Terminal for all guests who provide flight information prior to arrival. Should you prefer private transfers between these Terminals, please advise at time of booking and these can be arranged for you at $25 per person each way. The transfer between the Hinterland Aviation Terminal and the Cairns Airport Terminal (Domestic & International connections) is approximately 15 minutes duration.

The Hinterland Aviation Terminal is 15 minutes from the city centre of Cairns by car or taxi.

Scenic Flight Luggage Restrictions

Passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each, to a maximum of 32kg in total e.g. 28kg check in luggage and 4kg carry-on. Soft suitcases are preferable and weight limits are subject to loading restrictions. Secure luggage storage facilities are available at the Hinterland Aviation Terminal.

Please leave a minimum of one hour between arrival in Cairns and check-in closure for your connecting Domestic flight and a minimum of two hours connection time for all International flights.

Lizard Island Reservations will organise air transfers to the island for you, however to ensure the process runs smoothly a minimum of 14 days notice of your connecting flights is ideal.

If the scheduled transfer flight times are not suitable, private charter flights are available. Alternately, charter flights can also be arranged from destinations other than Cairns (for example, Sydney).
