Lizard Island is a continental island situated 28km from the North Queensland coast. The island is surrounded by fringing reef, and it is only a 50-minute boat trip to the legendary Outer Great Barrier Reef.
One of the most famous sites on the reef is the Cod Hole renowned for its huge, but friendly, Potato Cod.
Lizard's purpose-built dive boat, the MV Serranidae (the latin name for "Grouper" - the Potato Cod is part of the Grouper family) operates half and full day excursions to stunning inner and outer reef diving sites, including the world famous Cod Hole.
A variety of diverse dive locations are available for all levels of diving experience. This northern section of the Great Barrier Reef is renowned for its water clarity and amazing variety of coral species and marine life, which attracts visitors from all around the world.
