Set right on the Great Barrier Reef and boasting its own beautiful fringing reefs, Lizard Island has the advantage of being able to offer diving enthusiasts both half and full day reef experiences with only short boat rides to some of the world’s best diving sites.
Lizard's purpose-built dive boat, the MV Serranidae (the latin name for "Grouper" - the Potato Cod is part of the Grouper family) operates excursions to stunning inner and outer reef diving sites, including the world famous Cod Hole, renowned for its huge, but friendly, Potato Cod.
Dive Options
Half Day
The half day trip departs at approx. 8.30am and returns at approx.12.00pm, taking you to either the continental islands with their own unique fringing reefs, or to patch reefs which are constructed entirely of coral.
Full Day
The full day trip, departing at approx. 9.00am and returning at approx. 4.00pm, visits two sites on the ribbon reefs, including the renowned Cod Hole.
The full day trip is fully catered and all dives are videoed by a professional videographer, who can create a take-home DVD of memories for you.

Please note; All guests must complete a medical questionnaire for Australian dive standards and provide proof of 'Dive Certification' prior to diving on Lizard Island. Guest with Dive Certification who have not dived in the past 12 months, will be required to complete a complimentary 'Refresher Course', which takes place at 7:45 AM daily at the Marina Dive Centre.
